Research Assistant Vacancy in Evolutionary Scheduling

An EPSRC-funded research assistant position is available at the
University of Bradford, for a project in the Modelling, Optimisation,
Scheduling and Intelligent Computing (MOSAIC) research group, within
the School of Informatics. The group is internationally renowned for
its research and currently has four full time staff members and
several research assistants and PhD students.

The research assistant will work on a project entitled "The
Supervisor: Towards A Human Scheduling Algorithm". The long-term aim
of this research is to develop a human-like scheduler that learns
during scheduling. The project will provide the groundwork for this
goal by trying to prove the concept. The successful applicant will be
responsible for conducting a feasibility study into a learning
evolutionary scheduling algorithm. The project uses nurse scheduling
data gathered at a UK hospital.

Salary for the Research Assistant post will be within the range
£18,265 to £20,311 per annum, depending on qualifications and
experience, and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period
of up to 21 months.
