--- 1. OBJECTIVE -----------------------------------------------------------
The success of metaheuristics on hard single objective optimization
problems
is well recognized today. Many real-life problems require, however,
taking
into account several conflicting points of view corresponding to multiple
objectives. Multiple objective optimization differs from the single
objective
case in several ways: (1) the usual meaning of the optimum makes no
sense
in the multiple objective case because the solution optimizing all
objectives
simultanously is, in general, impractical; instead, a search is launched
for a feasible solution yielding the best compromise among objectives
on a
set of, so called, efficient solutions; (2) the identification of a
best
compromise solution requires taking into account the preferences expressed
by the decision-maker; (3) the multiple objectives encountered in real-life
problems are often mathematical functions of contrasting forms.
The use of metaheuristics to tackle multi-objective problems has recently
mushroomed, giving birth to many ideas published in various journals
and
proceedings. Even if MOMH are more and more discussed in specialized
international conferences (such as EMO, MCDM, MOPGP, MIC, etc.), there
is no
a common place dedicated to "metaheuristics for solving multiple objective
optimization problems".
The objective of this workshop is to organise a place where the
metaheuristic and the multi-objective optimisation communities can
meet and discuss novel approaches. The workshop will cover a wide variety
of
MOMH topics as :
(1) methodologies of metaheuristics applied to multiple objective optimization
problems : simulated annealing, tabu search, evolutionary
algorithms,
hybridation, quality evaluation, interactive methods,
preference-based
methods, heuristics and goal-programming, etc.;
(2) theoretical aspects of multiple objective metaheuristics : complexity,
coupling multiobjective optimization theory and
metaheuristics, etc.;
(3) real-life applications of multiple objective metaheuristics : engineering
design, timetabling, vehicle routing, etc.;
(4) algorithmic aspects and computational experiments of MOMH: algoritms
and
data structures, reusable software, multiobjective
benchmarks, comparison
of multiobjective metaheuristics, quality measure
and performance.
In order to allow to all researchers and students interested by the
subject
to attend to the workshop, the participation is free of charge.
--- 2. LOCATION ------------------------------------------------------------
France, Paris, at the "Carre des Sciences (Ministry of Research)"
http://www.education.gouv.fr/rt/carre/
--- 3. OFFICIAL LANGUAGE ---------------------------------------------------
The official language of the Conference is English. All presentations
will
be made in English. No arrangements are available for simultaneous
translation.
--- 4. REGISTRATION FEE ----------------------------------------------------
Registration IS REQUIRED but FREE OF CHARGE.
Please, fill the online registration form as soon a possible :
http://tew.ruca.ua.ac.be/eume/momh.html
--- 5. PROGRAMME ----------------------------------- !!! UPDATED !!! -----
To increase the interaction among researchers, there will be no parallel
sessions at the workshop. The plenary stream will consist of:
Four tutorial sessions (1h) :
* Evolutionary methods for multiobjective optimization,
Eckart Zitzler
ETH Zurich, CH.
* Multiobjective optimization with ant colony systems,
Martin Middendorf
Catholic University of Eichstatt-Ingolstadt,
D.
* Evaluation of multiple objective metaheuristics,
Andrzej Jaszkiewicz
Poznan University of Technology, PL.
* Multiobjective metaheuristics for scheduling and timetabling
J.Dario Landa-Silva
University of Nottingham, UK.
Ten technical sessions (1/2h) :
Ten of the submitted papers will be selected for presentation in a
technical session. The objective of the technical sessions is to cover
as
broadly as possible the field of MOMH. Papers are selected on the basis
of
their outstanding quality and the fact that they discuss a topic not
discussed in another technical session.
One poster session (1h) :
Papers not selected for a technical session will be presented during
a
poster session. Of course, papers assigned to a technical session can
still
participate in the poster session.
--- 6. CALL FOR PAPERS -----------------------------------------------------
Researchers and practitioners in the field of multiple-objective metaheuristic
optimisation are invited to submit a proposal of 5 pages by e-mail
to
Marc.Sevaux@univ-valenciennes.fr
Add 5 keywords and an abstract of approximately 10 lines. The left and
right
margins must be of 2.5cm whilst the up and down margins must be of
2.3cm.
Each page must contain only one column, with single spaced lines. Use
Times
new roman style for writting, or equivalent, with 11pt in size. Figures
and
tables must be directly included in the body of the text. An exemple
of
Latex file is available on the web site of the workshop :
http://tew.ruca.ua.ac.be/eume/momh.html
Accepted papers will be assigned to a technical session or a poster
session.
--- 7. PUBLICATION -------------------------------- !!! UPDATED !!! -----
All accepted authors will be invited to prepare a full paper, that will
be
submitted to a regular refereeing process for publication in a Lecture
Notes
in Economics and Mathematical Systems volume (Springer). Papers should
be
between 15 and 25 page long. Guidelines and a LaTeX style file are
available
for download on the web site. Full papers must be sent electronically
by
November 4 (the date of the workshop) to Marc.Sevaux@univ-valenciennes.fr.
