                              GECCO-2001
                 One Conference:  Many "Mini-Conferences":
     GECCO = GP + GA + ES + EP + EH + ER + DNA + CS + RWA + AAA + ACO + ...

#### GOOD NEWS! #### The 352 REGULAR PAPER SUBMISSIONS to GECCO were up
35% over last year, paving the way for a spectacular conference! With 24
tutorials, 15 workshops, over 100 poster presentations, three days of
parallel sessions presenting 169 high-quality papers (acceptance rate < 50%),
up-to-the-minute results in Late-Breaking Papers sessions, and two
outstanding keynoters, the conference promises to be the best ever in
evolutionary computation! You will see the latest in your favorite area,
and can also explore developments in other, related tracks.

Topics in the conference include genetic algorithms (GA); genetic programming
(GP); evolution strategies (ES); evolutionary programming (EP); evolvable
hardware (EH); evolutionary robotics (ER); real-world applications (RWA);
classifier systems (CS); DNA and molecular computing (DNA); artificial life,
adaptive behavior and agents (AAA); ant colony optimization (ACO);
evolutionary design of engineered structures; methodology, pedagogy, and
philosophy (MPP); and evolutionary scheduling and routing (SCH). The many
"tracks" and grouping of papers by topic area make it easy for you to
find the papers in which you are most interested.

                             LATE-BREAKING PAPERS
                             ____________________

Late-Breaking Papers, presenting the very latest work in the field, are being
accepted in camera-ready form through May 28, 2001. These papers will be
included in a special Late-Breaking Papers volume to be distributed to all
GECCO-2001 registrants, and presented in special sessions at the conference.
See www.isgec.org/GECCO-2001 for details!

                                  TUTORIALS
                                  _________

Twenty-four tutorials are planned for presentation on Sunday, July 8,
2001 (see below). Tutorials and the tutorials notes book are free to all
registered GECCO-2001 attendees. As you can see, the tutorials will be
presented by outstanding leaders in each field. If you want to "brush up"
on a topic, or for an introduction by a top researcher in a new field, the
tutorials (and tutorial notes volume) are a wonderful resource!

                OVER 60 STUDENT TRAVEL GRANTS ALREADY AWARDED!
                ______________________________________________

Travel grants to assist graduate students to attend GECCO to present a paper
have already been awarded, enabling many students to participate in GECCO.
Sponsors of student travel grants this year included I2 Technologies, the
Navy Center for Applied Research in Artificial Intelligence, Third Millennium
Venture Capital, AAAI, and Philips. Employers seeking well-qualified students
in evolutionary computation will find a GOLD MINE at GECCO-2001!
