The GECCO-2001 Program Committee would like to invite proposals for
Birds-of-a-feather workshops to be held during the 2001 Genetic and
Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO-2001).
Workshops provide an opportunity for researchers to meet and discuss topics
with a selected focus in an informal and interactive setting. Workshops are
an excellent forum for participants with common interests to explore new
approaches, critique existing approaches, and identify emerging areas of
interest in genetic and evolutionary computation (GEC). Members of all
segments of the GEC community are encouraged to submit proposals.
Individual workshops are half day (4 hours) in length. The general content
and format of each workshop will be determined by their organizers; however,
each workshop format should include a panel discussion. The panel can be
comprised of authors or other members who will lead discussions of the topic
at hand. Organizers are strongly encouraged to develop an interactive
workshop including ample time for general discussion.
Proposals for workshops should not exceed three pages in length and should
contain the following information:
* A description of the workshop topic. Identify the specific
issues on which the workshop will focus.
* A brief discussion of why the topic is of particular interest
to the GEC community at this time.
* The names and full contact information (e-mail and postal
addresses, fax, and telephone numbers) of the workshop
organizer(s) and brief descriptions of their relevant expertise.
* A brief description of the proposed workshop format, e.g. question and
answer sessions, hands-on demonstrations, small group problem solving
sessions, brainstorming sessions, short presentations, general discussion,
or a combination of methods.
* A list of potential attendees.
* A list of potential panel members if the panel is not comprised of
authors for workshop papers.
Organizers' whose proposals are accepted for GECCO workshops will be
responsible for coordinating the workshop and gathering abstracts for
publication. Attendance of the workshops will be open to all GECCO attendees.
All organizers, participants, and presenters must register for the GECCO-2001
conference. Abstracts from each workshop presentations will be published in a
separate workshop proceedings. Details and additional deadlines will be
provided once decisions have been made on the proposals.
Workshop proposals should be submitted as soon as possible
and must be recieved no later than Thursday, November 30, 2000.
NOTE: Please submit proposals in PLAIN TEXT email format.
(Please do not send html formatted text or encoded attachments.)
Organizers will be notified of the committee's decisions
shortly thereafter.
