EuroGP2000 CFP

                              CALL FOR PAPERS

                                 EuroGP2000
THIRD EUROPEAN CONFERENCE ON GENETIC PROGRAMMING

                            In conjunction with
                                  ICES2000
                                    and
                 EvoNET workshops on evolutionary computing

                       Edinburgh, 15-16th April, 2000

Genetic Programming (GP) is a new branch of Evolutionary Computation in
which the structures in the population being evolved are computer programs.
GP has been applied successfully to a large number of difficult problems
like automatic design, pattern recognition, robotic control, synthesis of
neural networks, symbolic regression, music and picture generation, etc.

EuroGP2000 is the biggest event devoted to genetic programming to be held in
Europe. It is a high quality conference where state-of-the-art work on the
theory of GP and applications of GP to real world problems will be
presented. It is the third of its kind following EuroGP'98 which took place
in Paris and EuroGP'99 in Sweden. Like the two previous workshops,
EuroGP2000 is organised by EvoGP, the genetic programming working group of
EvoNET, the Network of Excellence in Evolutionary Computing. The aims are to
give European and non-European researchers in the area of genetic
programming as well as people from industry an opportunity to present their
latest research and discuss current developments and applications.
EuroGP2000 and the EvoWorkshops2000 (17 April) will be held in conjunction
with ICES2000 (Monday 17 - Tuesday 18 April) and the Edinburgh International
Science Festival.

Topics of interest at EuroGP2000 will include, but are not limited to:

Theoretical developments
Experimental results on performance and behaviour of GP runs
New algorithms, representations and operators
Applications of GP to real-life problems
Hybrid architectures including GP components
Comparisons with other machine learning or program-induction techniques
New libraries and implementations

The conference will consisted of:

A tutorial on GP
Invited talks
Oral and poster presentations
Industrial stands and demonstrations
And a lot more

Submissions:

To submit high quality papers, send your manuscript (max length: 15 pages)
to one of the co-chairs, Riccardo Poli and Wolfgang Banzhaf, in PostScript
or PDF (preferably either compressed and uuencoded, or MIME encoded) BY
EMAIL (see addresses below) not later than 15 November, 1999. Ideally LNCS
format should be used. Submission of papers describing new real-world
applications of standard or improved GP is strongly encouraged.

The papers will be peer reviewed by at least two members of the program
committee in a double-blind process.

Submission should be in two parts; a title page with author contact details
and the actual paper. The second part should not contain reference to the
author or his works. Citations should be replaced by ??? in text and removed
from bibliography. The second part should be in postscript or PDF format.
Plain ascii is also acceptable for first part (title page).

Authors will be notified via email on the results of the review by 24
December, 1999. Authors will be given the opportunity to comment on the
standard and length of their reviews.

The material in papers must represent substantially new work that has not
been previously published by conferences, journals, or edited books etc. in
the field of evolutionary computation. By submitting a camera-ready final
paper to the conference, the authors agree that substantially the same
material will not be published by another conference in the field (however,
material may conceivably be later revised and submitted to an EC journal or
material may be submitted to a non-EC conference, such as an applications
conference).

The authors of accepted papers will have about five weeks to improve their
paper on the basis of the reviewers' comments and will be asked to send a
camera ready version of their manuscripts in LNCS format (12 pages
recommended, 15 pages max) by February 15th, 2000.

Formatting instructions, templates etc can be found at
http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html

Accepted Papers:

The papers accepted will be presented at EuroGP2000 and appear in the
conference proceedings. These will will be available at the conference.

By submitting a camera-ready paper, the author(s) agree that at least one
author will attend and present each accepted paper at the conference.

Registration

Registration fees have yet to be finalised. Registration to EuroGP2000 will
include free non-transferable registration to the EvoNET workshops. Reduced
rates are available for students and early registration Limited student
travel funds may also be available. There will be a combined registration
for EuroGP2000 and the EvoWorkshops2000.
